With this in mind, it is no surprise that F&A have developed many of their own techniques. A case in point is Falkner and Abele's line of hand dyed paper applications. Incorporating the design elements of color, pattern and texture, it is a richly organic finish with amazing depth. Depending on the application, the range of this effect can appear to be subtly stone-like or amazingly leather-like. Another example of Falkner and Abele's innovation is in their truly realistic stone-like finish. It is a multiple step technique that fully portrays the aged and pitted effect of cast stone. This affect can then be artistically designed to create the effect of true stone blocks. Recently, at one home Falkner and Abele used one of their stone techniques to cause the crown molding throughout the house to look as though it were real cast stone although it was actually made of Styrofoam.

Falkner and Abele also have a thorough appreciation of history and tradition. Many of their techniques are founded upon traditional finishes used for centuries. For example, Falkner and Abele offer a finish called Venetian Plaster; a lime and marble dust based finish, which can be polished to a mirror like smoothness and sheen. It is a truly beautiful finish with an intrinsic translucency and limitless color options. Falkner and Abele have developed several textured finishes that meet the requirements of a wide range of decorative schemes. continue
